Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine
Geisinger Commonwealth’s Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSSC) brings simulated patient experiences to life. The use of simulated patient experiences is an educational technique that allows interactive, immersive types of learning. In the CSSC, students interact with one another, other healthcare professionals and students, CSSC staff, faculty, state-of-the-art manikins and equipment, clinicians and patient actors (Standardized Patients) throughout their education to accomplish curriculum objectives, specific skill competencies, and assessment. The CSSC enhances student learning experiences by providing a means for standardized repetitive practice of clinical scenarios in a safe environment that does not put real patients at unnecessary risk.
